Description: This antique woodenware masher is a true gem for collectors of American tree ware. With its warm nutty brown color and unusually bold turned handle, it takes a vernacular item and elevates to something very stylish. It certainly caught my eye while searching shelves at a tag sale. The piece is made of hard maple and features a mushroom finial. Although it's unsigned, this original piece is estimated to have been created in the 1850s by an American woodturner. It measures 10.7” high to and has a charming old color that adds to its character. Also there is a dark sap run that runs up the masher and appears faintly on the side of the finial. This antique masher is a great addition to any collection and is perfect for a country kitchen. Condition: very good as found 10.7” High 2.6” Diameter (bottom of masher)
