Description: This is a phenomenal and Fine Epic Vintage Modern Surrealist DOG Pop Art Oil Painting, depicting a dignified white hound portrayed in mirror reflection, floating in a pale gray sky, and surrounded by highly detailed wisps of clouds. Each dog is seated, staring hopefully outward, and rendered in very realistic detail. The juxtaposition of these animals reminds me of a traditional playing card, featuring a Jack, Queen, or King. This painting shows inspiration from both Rene Magritte (1898 - 1967) & Andy Warhol (1928 - 1987.) Titled, signed and dated on the verso: "Cleo. Joan Schwartz '76." I could not find any biographical information on this immensely talented painter, but perhaps you know more about her or her work? Approximately 30 3/8 x 32 1/4 inches (including frame.) Good condition for age, with some mild scuffing and edge wear (please see photos.) Acquired from an old private collection in Los Angeles County, California.
