Description: This is a Rare Estate Fresh very old and very detailed, well executed German porcelain figurine depicting a young Woman or Girl in a Dress & Jacket holding a Grouse in one hand and a basket of what looks like fruit on her other arm. She is in an adorable bonnet all delicatley paint accented. This beauty is Marked on the bottom with the Blue Crown and Intertwined "CT" Mark of Carl Theodor. This figurine bears the dark blue early mark, the intertwined "CT" mark beneath an Elector's hat (crown) often found on early Frankenthal porcelains of the period in which Carl Theodor took over managing the Karl Hannong factory. Its possible that it is a VIN marking under the CT or its a VIII which might stand for 1778, but I am only speculating on that part... Its definitely in that 1760's to 1770's time period when it was made! The piece is in amazing condition as described above. She stands 4.25" tall x 2.5" wide on a base that is 1.5" deep. The detail of this piece is amazing and I hope my photos portray that. From Wikipedia....... The Frankenthal Porcelain Factory (German: Porzellanmanufaktur Frankenthal) was one of the greatest porcelain manufacturers of Germany and operated in Frankenthal in the Rhineland-Palatinate between 1755 and 1799. From the start they made hard-paste porcelain, and produced both figurines and dishware of very high quality, somewhat reflecting in style the French origin of the business, especially in their floral painting. Initially they were a private business, but from 1761 were owned by the local ruler, like most German porcelain factories of the period. In 1762 the Elector bought the factory from the Hannongs and installed his own officials to manage it. Frankenthal Porcelain was always hard paste, as Hannong senior had been in partnership in Strasbourg with an ex-employee of the Meissen factory. It is said that one of his sons sold the secret to Sèvres, although they were unable to obtain the right raw materials for some time. The years from 1762 to 1770 were extraordinarily successful: the products achieved high quality and established the factory's reputation. They retained some of the French style of Strasbourg. From 1770 all items were marked with a date mark."
