Description: A vintage Chinese octagonal Cinnabar red lacquerware condiment/ spice box. Stamped on the base “Wong Tai Mi & Co – Foochow”. Inside it has 8 trapezium shaped dishes and a central octagonal dish, they are all removable. The lid is hand decorated in gold, dark red, grey and black and features 4 men; 2 are sitting at a table under some trees and there are bushes in the foreground and a pagoda/ temple in the background. The box measures approximately 27.5cm in diameter. It is in very good condition with minor lacquer loss; very small lacquer chip to lid; the box has some lacquer chips on the external corners; small chips to lacquer on some of the feet; one foot has a small piece of wood missing.
