Cover shows considerable rubbing, bumping, wear especially to edges, with lots of marks and superficial scratches. Bottom and top of boards along with corners show heavy wear. First two blank pages are detached. Library stamp on several pages at front and back. Previous book shop sticker inside of front board. No writing inside of book. Pages tanned. A few pages are ripped. Map insert is ripped. Some spotting to pages. Please see pictures for complete condition. This book comes from the personal collection of Berthe Amoss the children’s book author. She was an avid collector of children’s books and we have acquired her very large estate. Over the next two months we will be listing close to 1000 books, many of which are signed, very rare, and highly collectible. We will also be listing many books signed by Miss Amoss along with notebooks of her original drawings and personal ephemera from her collection. She was a personal friend of many of the most well-known children’s book authors and many of the inscriptions tell the tale of that friendship. She was a lifelong champion of children’s literacy and donated generously to libraries in the Southeast. She was also a world traveler and within her collection there are every sort of book from every region of the earth.
