Hopkinson" as Treasurer of Loans. Although no date is present on the document Hopkinson served as Treasurer for the Continental Loan Office in Philadelphia from 1778 to 1781. With this in mind we can say with certainty this is a revolutionary war-date signature form Hopkinson. An American Founding Father, lawyer, jurist, author and composer, Hopkinson designed Continental paper money, and two early version of the American flag and United States Navy flag. He later served as a federal judge in Pennsylvania. The document is countersigned on the front by Abraham Yates, Jr., as commissioner of the Continental Loan Office for New York.
