Description: Part of the Alger Series by Horatio Alger, Jr., this is FRANK'S CAMPAIGN. This 100 or so (no page numbers) page hardback has no date but was probably published in the 30s or 40s. From the inside page we read, "In the title of this book, 'Frank's Campaign,' Horatio Alger, Jr., gives us not only the name of the hero of the book but also an idea of the character of the work. The word campaign is associated with war times. We all know that war always brings many hardships and trials and our author pictures to us a boy, who, though he does not go to war, has many battles to fight, and obstacles to overcome. He takes his father's place while the latter is absent in his country's service, and is enabled by fortunate circumstances, to pay off a mortgage on the home farm. This story leads us to see that one may be a hero without being on the battle field." Classic reading in this book in acceptable condition. Clean unmarked lightly aged pages. A few pages with a little darker spots. Top of one page has small open tear and one corner missing on another. Previous owners name on title page.
