Description: Original solid bronze bust of General George S. Patton by California sculptor Rafael Arrieta (Rafael Arrieta-Eskarzaga). Bust was cast by the Sun Foundry out of Burbank, California. The foundry had a reputation of producing work of the highest museum quality. Although no longer in business due to the owner's retirement in 2004, an old advertisement for the foundry reads as follows... "Sun Foundry, Genuine Bronze Sculptures handcrafted in Burbank, Ca. USA - "For many years we have been setting the standard in hand cast bronzes in the superior "lost wax" process for the knowledgeable public, artists and museums. During this time, we have reproduced hundreds of splendid editions covering a wide range of subject matter and artistic styles. While other foundries have "semi-automated" and scrimped in areas of size, materials and craftsmanship, we practice our art in the same manner of the old world masters, with devotion to quality, fidelity and detail. Our skillful artisans take pride in casting the best foundry bronze." I purchased this bust directly from the foundry in the late 1990s for my Dad, a WWII veteran who served in Patton's Third Army. It has had just one owner. * CONDITION: Excellent * SIZE: Measures approximately 13 1/8 inches high x 8 1/2 inches wide overall. Marble base is 7 x 7 inches. Sculpture weighs 19 lbs, 3.3 oz.
