Title: The Piccadilly Lady Author: George A Brirmingham Publisher: Methuen, London Date Printed: 1946 Edition: First Edition, First Printing Description: The uncommon first printing of the first edition from 1946. Original red cloth hardback, with vignette to front cover. Original endpapers. Externally attractive with light wear to edges and fading to the spine (see pictures). Internally clean and bright. This is a war economy production from 1946 when paper was scarce, and one gathering has been printed on slightly creased paper. Binding sound and square. A nice copy of this scarce Irish novel. George A Birmingham was the pseudonym of James Hannay, a Church of Ireland clergyman born in Belfast. His portrayal of Catholic priests in his early novels lead to a rift with the Gaelic League, of which he had been a member. He moved to England and became an Anglican minister in Kensington. We take great care in the packaging of all our books to ensure that they arrive as described. We accept PayPal worldwide. Please browse our ebay shop, Goodman Books.
