Clinton,” as Governor of New York appointing, “George Allen Captain of a Company of Artillery in the Brigade of Militia in the County of Rensselaer whereof Henry K. Van Rensselaer Esquire is Brigadier General.” Rensselaer (1744-1816) was a Revolutionary War hero known for his actions at the Battle of Fort Anne on July 8, 1777. Countersigned by NY Deputy Secretary of State Archibald McIntyre, contains one page on a bifolium with a blindstamp seal, measures 15.5 by 9.75 inches, created in Albany on April 5, 1802, and in near pristine condition with only creasing.
