According to Wikipedia: Lucian Bernhard, actually Emil Kahn (born March 15, 1883 in Cannstatt near Stuttgart, † May 29, 1972 in New York City), often also Lucien Bernhard, was a German graphic artist and designer of the Neue Sachlichkeit (New Objectivity), typographer, architect and first ever professor for Poster Art. The family of fonts that he developed is known as Bernhard. Coffee Hag, Pelikan and the Bosch spark plugs are still stylistically influenced by Lucian Bernhard. The Bahlsen Company used poster stamps extensively in their advertising, and had several different series produced, each with 12 designs by a single artist, in their Künstler-Marken series, each with their own souvenir folder. This stamp is from the Bernhard series (Series G), and depicts a package of the company's biscuits on the top of a travel valise, along with other travel accessories, with the slogan "Auf der Reise" (on trips). This stamp is listed in Charles Kiddle's "Poster Stamps - The 'Top Twenty' Graphic Artists", as # BE1.63 (Rarity 40). The condition will be mixed, but none of the lots will be just accumulations of damaged or faulty stamps (unless specifically listed as such). A Note about Poster Stamps and Gum: Because many poster stamp collectors are primarily interested in the image on the stamp, the absence or presence of gum on the back is of little concern.
