Natural color Hummingbird Gibson's first square shoulder dreadnought acoustic guitar, the Hummingbird, was born in 1960. In the 1970s, Gibson's round shoulders were all replaced with square shoulders, ushering in a period of change. The groundwork for this was laid by the Hummingbird and the Dove, which was born in 1962. Originally, the Hummingbird was made to accompany singing, and its sweet, soft sound, commonly known as the "honey tone," blended well with singing, making it a popular model among folk singers at the time. The body is all solid wood, with a Sitka spruce top and mahogany sides and back, a classic specification. The top is equipped with a three-pointed pickguard (engraved type) with a hummingbird design. Familiar features include a glue-bonded dovetail neck joint, scalloped X-bracing, and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish (gloss). The 24-3/4" Gibson scale round profile mahogany neck with a nut width of approximately 43.8 mm features a rosewood fingerboard with a mother-of-pearl double parallelogram inlay. The head is covered with a crown inlay and equipped with Kluson type pegs. The pickup is equipped with an L.R.BAGGS ELEMENT VTC, and volume/tone control is possible at the edge of the sound hole. The square shoulder has a wide sound, and the gold parts stand out, making it a great choice for the stage!
