Description: Full album of 12 Glenn Miller 78s on the Bluebird label, his original prewar releases. All play fantastically: -Slow Freight / Bugle Call Rag (1940) B-10740 - V+ with only light superficial scuffing. Shiny and clean-playing. -The Nearness of You / Mister Meadowlark (1940) B-10745 - this one has the most wear of any in the set. A torn a-side label and some scuffing and light clouding on the grooves. Still plays clearly with a bit of noise. -And the Angels Sing / The Chestnut Tree (1939) B-10201 - V with a bit of scuffing and clouding. Not as much as above but still a little worn. Plays quite nicely nonetheless. The b-side is less clean and has some noise. -I Know Why / Chattanooga Choo-Choo (1941) B-11230 - a classic! About the same as above. Some wear and light clouding but it plays very nicely. -This Time the Dream’s On Me / Says Who? Says You, Says I! (1941) B-11315 - EX with only the slightest superficial scuffing, barely. Plays perfectly. -On the Old Assembly Line / When Johnny Comes Marching Home (1941) B-11480 - E with only light scuffing. Plays beautifully. -She’ll Always Remember / Shhh, It’s a Militant Secret (1942) B-11493 - V+ with just a bit of scuffing and light marks. Still shiny, playing very nicely. -Little Brown Jug / Pavanne (1939) B-10286 - V+ as above. -Sunrise Serenade / Moonlight Serenade (1939) B-10214 - a touch more scuffy than above, but still a clear player. A bit of light background crackle. -You and I / The Angels Came Thru (1941) B-11215 - as above. -Elmer’s Tune / Delilah (1941) B-11274 - E+ with barely the slightest wear. -Over the Rainbow / Ding-Dong! The Witch is Dead (1939) B-19366 - E- with just the mildest scuffing. Plays beautifully. A lovely set of original Miller releases, before the glut of represses on the Victor label, which just don’t sound as good as the original masters.
