Description: This is a vintage antique sample of barbed wire fencing. This sample features a Joseph F. Glidden patent, dated August 22, 1876. This wire is called "Glidden's Two Point Barb on Twisted Diamond Shaped Line" by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 43-B). This wire features a single line wire, which is diamond shaped in cross section. Line wire is twisted. Barbs are two pointed made by wrapping a round barbing wire two times around the line wire. Sample is 18" in length. Wire sample shows light pitting. There are six barbs. Barbs are well spaced, and cut is well centered. Sample shows some very light bending of barbing points, but no broken or missing points.
