Description: Up for auction is an early Metallic Cap Manufacturing Company "GOLD MEDAL" Blasting Primers (caps) XXXX (4, No. 4) strength. A very old tin, this is pre- Dupont Explosives company purchase (that is, prior to 1908), which are labelled as "M.C. Manufacturing Works" from this location, to help you identify your tin's age. There are hardly any chips to the the paint on the top lid, and almost no fading to the paint!!. The bottom embossing is clearly visible and zinc tinning is still present. Part of the original paper label seal wrapping is still present on the one side. Very Good used shape, in my opinion, and I would put it at 8 out of 10.
