Description: Common Wine Grapes (Vitis vinifera) - 35 Seeds •Heirloom •Non-GMO •American grown seeds Germination rate: 91% •USDA Zones: Hardy to zone 7 Description: Vitis vinifera, known as the grapevine, is indigenous to southern Europe and western Asia, and is today cultivated worldwide. Grape seeds are byproducts of grapes separated during the industrial production of grape juice and wine. This is the variety of grape that makes all quality wine and grows best in two relatively narrow bands between latitudes 30 and 50 degrees in the northern and southern hemispheres which covers the bulk of the mainland United States. This grape is eaten fresh, processed to make wine, or dried to produce raisins. Planting Instructions: Like most fruits, grapes are a slow to germinate, but those with patience will definitely be rewarded. Start your seeds by soaking them in water and let stand for 24 hours. Afterwards, cold stratify the seeds for 60 to 90 days. If direct sowing, sow the seeds 1/4" deep, tamp down the soil and mulch the seed bed. If starting indoors, sow 1/4" deep in a sterile seed starting mix. Make sure that the tray has drainage holes and sow the seeds every 1 1/2 inch. Put under a grow lamp for 16 hours per day or in a sunny window. Water regularly keeping the soil moist, but not soggy. Seeds can take 2 weeks to several months to germinate. When the seedlings have 2 sets of leaves, transplant into a 4" pot. After 6 weeks each plant to individual one-gallon pot. Once they have 6 sets of leaves and there is no threat of frost, they can be moved outdoors, but gradually expose them to the elements over the course of a week. Space the plants 8-10" apart. •FREE SHIPPING on all orders of $35 or more. •Flat Rate shipping no matter how many seeds you order. •Growing instructions included on each seed packet. *All information is provided for educational purposes only.
