Description: Hamilton Tile Works, Hamilton, OH 1883-1901 Hamilton Tile Works was started by Adolf Metzner, who started making tiles in his backyard. In 1901 he went to work for American Encaustic Tiling Co, then on to C. Pardee Works in NJ. Selling antique tile with raised silhouette of a dog. Glazing is deep brown with glossy finish. For its age, it is in pretty good condition. Has small edge chips. Measures 6" x 6" x 1/2" thick. This tile was photographed for Norman Karlson's Encyclopedia of American Art Tiles-last photo.
