The striped skin used in tsuka is of the highest quality, and tsuka-ito and sageo are the best quality Japanese silk fabric. Fuchi, kashira, kojiri, koiguchi and kurigata are made of blackened bronze, with embossed décor and selective copper, silver and gold details. The tsuba, which represents the kami, or guardian warriors, is crafted in hardened blackened copper with embossed decoration and select silver and gold details. The habaki is a two-piece construction, the inner section is made of copper and the outer section of brass bathed in gold.
