Description: For sale is a double album vinyl set by Harry Belafonte titled "Belafonte At Carnegie Hall", originally released in 1959 by RCA Victor Records with a laminated cover and a gate-fold presentation, then re-issued between 1968 and 1969 with orange "deep groove" labels and a non-laminated cover. These "deep groove" labels have a groove that runs half way from the spindle holes to the border of the labels. They were used only between 1968 and 1969. In the dead wax between these labels and the last tracks are the matrix numbers 12-S/10-S/13-S/17-S, followed by an upper case "H", indicating that later stampers were used to make these records at RCA Records' pressing plant located in Hollywood, California. These are hallmarks of state-of-the-art engineering, sought after by collectors and music lovers for their superior sound quality. I bought this record set used, professionally cleaned them on my VPI HW-17 machine and immediately put the two records into archival inner sleeves. This protects the integrity of the vinyl and any original inner sleeve(s) or insert(s) that may have come with the release. There are no original inner sleeves with this listing. The cover is graded as Very Good because of corner blunts, ring wear and a edge rubs. The spine has corners with paper loss due to som fraying. The vinyl is visually graded as Near Mint for Side One and Side Four, which are auto-couple together back-to-back, Side Two is visually graded as Near Mint, but Side Three is visually graded as Excellent because of superficial, faint sleeve marks and surface scratches. Side One and Four are play graded as Near Mint Minus because of occasional ultra low-level background noise, hardly noticeable. Sides Two and Three are play graded between Very Good Plus and Excellent because of occasional low level background noise and ticking, none of which over-powered the vovals or the music. All records played all the way through without any skips, but there was one pop on Side Two. It's been played only on Audiophile equipment since I've owned it and still has a lot of life yet. This record has an incredible deep and wide soundstage with pin-point imaging of Harry's voice, the guitars and bongo drums. This is still one of the best copies of this hard to find record that I have ever seen or heard and you would be hard pressed to find another like this one, especially a Hollywood pressing. This would make a great addition to anyone's collection. I have a lot more Folk records, as well as albums of all different genres, listed in my Ebay store. Please take a look. They're predominately Near Mint. Thank you for viewing my listing. I've been collecting records for about 50 years now and have always cleaned them and put them away carefully in plastic inner sleeves. Over the years I've used Dust Bugs, Disc Washers and rner blunts, ring wear, edge rubs with a small 1/2" tear on the bottom of the left hand cornerhave finally invested in a professional VPI record cleaning machine. Now that I'm retiring, I'm selling my very esoteric collection. I'm not a professional grader of records, but will use record guides, as well as my personal experiences as a basis of my grading all records. Since grading is subjective, I will be conservative. I offer discounts for multiple sales. Photos are of the actual item for sale, not a stock photo. Please review all descriptions and photos because I do not accept returns. Thank you for looking!
