In 1966, he earned an M.A. in English from NYU and has been teaching in college ever since. His first book of poems, Genesis, was published by BOA Editions in 1989. Since then, he has published a number of his poetry books (his latest being, Cartwheel to the Moon (a childrens book), from Cricket Books, The Silver Lake Love Poems, SICILIANA, WRITING ANEW: NEW AND SELECTED POEMS, and HARVEST, all from Bordighera press. His long poem, Connections, won the Chelsea Poetry Award. He worked as poetry editor of Chelsea for a number of years. He has translated many Italian poets. His translation of Silvio Ramats Sharing a Trip won di Pasquale The Academy of American Poets Raiziss/de Palchi Fellowship in 2002. He also won the Bordighera Poetry Prize for his translation into Italian of Joe Salernos Song of the Tulip Tree. His translation of Dantes Vita Nuova will be published in 2011 by Xenos Press.
