Description: This is one of Herschede’s tambour style mantel clocks. This one uses an 8 day, time and strike movement with a signed back plate. The clock appears to be very original. The finish is old and alligatored, the key and pendulum are correct to the clock and there are signatures on the dial, movement, and key. Herschedes clocks were known for their attention to detail and high quality construction and materials. They used high grade mahogany, a silvered dial with standout numerals, and finely constructed and blued hands. The springs are good, and the clock ticks and chimes when the hands are cycled but it is relatively untested, and is being sold for restoration. It’s a nice original clock, priced to sell so don’t miss it!
