The lamp worked before it was removed but needs to be rewired to extend the connection at the top. There is no ceiling plate, as this was hung from a hook. the lamp is gorgeous and is going to look great, no matter what you decide to do with it. Base of lamp to top plate is approximately 15 1/2 inches. The hook at the top adds an additional 3 inches. The lamp measures approximately 12 inches across the center.
