The map extends from Sidon to Anthedon and inland to Philadelphia. Sodom and Gomorrha are located in the Dead Sea. The sea is decorated with a scene of Jonah and the whale. Embellished with a strapwork title cartouche that incorporates the distance scale. French text on verso. References: King (2nd ed.) pp. 96-99; Van der Krogt (Vol. III) #8150H:342. Original hand coloring (this was only done to a very limited number of these atlases). Published by Hondius in Amsterdam in 1618 in a French edition of ´Géographie raccourcie par Pierre BERTIUS´. Condition / Estado Very good condition. Original hand coloring (very rare, only a few copies were sold with hand coloring). Never folded. Reverse side text in French.
