Description: This is a fully polished, cabochon shaped piece of Burmite (Burmese) amber that contains a hooded beetle from the Cretaceous Period. Next to this beetle is a mass of pyrite or fool's gold crystals. This beetle would have once lived in an ancient forest that dinosaurs would have been a part of! This insect would have been on the Earth at the time of the dinosaurs including T-Rex and Triceratops.Please see my other resin fossils including Dominican amber with inclusions, large Colombian copal with inclusions, and very rare Indonesian ambers (some of lovely blue and green color). The piece itself weighs 0.5 grams with approximate dimensions of 1.4 cm length by 0.7 cm width and 0.5 cm height. NOTE: 2.54 cm is 1 inch. Please see my feedback. Burmite (Burmese) amber is difficult to acquire and has been dated to be Cretaceous in age (around 100 million years old) and would have been sticky tree resin during the time of the dinosaurs and is being mined in the Hukawng Valley in Myanmar (Burma).
