Description: HUGE Antique Georgian Gold Pearl Blue White Enamel Lovers Hunting Mourning Ring HUGE Antique Georgian Gold Pearl Blue White Enamel Lovers Hunting Mourning Ring Click images to enlarge Description A breathtaking HUGE antique Georgian rose gold, seed pearl, blue and white enamel young lover's hunting in the forest navette mourning ring, dating to the circa 1790's and in excellent collector's condition. This incredible and enormous Georgian mourning ring has probably been converted from a 14k rose gold slide or brooch with a later added graduating 9k rose gold band and is a one off and unique piece of exceptional quality which was most likely commissioned by a lady to remember the love of her life. It shows a beautifully painted pastoral forest scene in sepia of two lovers in traditional Georgian dress as they walk through the forest with trees and foliage all around them. The young man has his hat under his arm and is holding a bow with a hunting horn slung across his shoulder as he points towards the heavens while the young woman gazes longingly at him as she grasps his arm trying to keep him on earth for a little while longer. The painting is housed under its original domed crystal glass with a wonderful triple frame consisting of white enamel then blue enamel and finally the outside frame of 47 tightly set glowing white seed pearls-absolutely amazing! The details all over the ring are fantastic such as tiny hand hammerings on the gold work between each frame which catch the light perfectly. The ring has a very thick and heavy rose gold band which safely supports the large ring head. The ring is unmarked, the back of the ring tests for approximately 14k gold and the band for 9k gold. The ring comes in a Hamburg, Germany antique leather, red velvet and white silk box. This ring would absolutely be the statement piece of your Georgian mourning jewelry collection! The ring is approximately a size 8 1/2. The ring measures approximately 1 5/8 inches x 1 1/8 inches (41mm x 29mm) across the face. The painting is about 31mm x 18mm. The pearls are each about 2mm across. The ring rises about 8mm above the finger. The ring has a total weight of approximately 19.3 grams. The ring is in excellent condition with all over light general wear including some light scratching to the crystal. The enamel is in perfect condition and the seed pearls are well matched and are nice and bright. The box has general wear, the hinge is a little loose but it closes tightly.
