Description: Up for sale is a vintage educational game titled "a e i o" subtitled "The Quiet Pal Game" from Ideal School Supply Company. It is Ideal No. 267, made in the U.S.A and Edith Stephens appears on the box top, I'm unsure if she designed the game or just the box cover. I can find no copyright date but I'm confident that it is vintage. There are NO instructions for the game but as an ex-teacher I can see the value of using it with one or more students to work with phonics and sight words. The game consists of 15 cards, each of which has a folding flap. One word is printed on the card but when you fold the flap it covers part of the word and changes it to a different word. For example card no. 1 has the word "Ran" on it and when you fold the flap over, the flap covers the n of rain and has the letters "in" instead, changing the word to "Rain." The higher number cards are more challenging as the new word created has a different vowel sound (e.g. net becomes neat, short e to long e). This could be used in a classroom setting, for homeschooling, a tutor, etc. The cards are all intact and in overall good condition. Condition Issues: Box top has one split corner, 2 tears on one side and 1 tear on the opposite side. Box bottom has waterstaining. Interior cards in good vintage condition. No Instructions.
