Description: NIGHT Exakta model B type 4.1 medium format SLR 4x6.5cm 127 film camera. Made in Germany. Serial #571810. Circa 1935. Early vintage slr Exakta 127 film camera with a built in Meyer Primoplan 8cm f/1.9 lens. Black finish. This camera is called the "Night Exakta" because of it's fast aperture F/1.9 Meyer Primoplan lens for low light shooting. Waist level viewfinder with swing up magnifier. Shutter speed are 1/1000 to 1/25 sec, B. T. No slow shutter speeds on this model. This 127 NITE Exakta is in Ex or 8 of 10 cosmetic condition. No dings or dents. Fairly good black enamel finish with some small paint wear around. Good vintage condition leather covering. Good working order. Replacement shutter curtains. Lens is the famous Meyer Gorlitz Primoplan 8cm f/1.9 FAST standard lens. Serial #79893. Lens apertures are f/1.9 to f/22. Lens close focusing down to 4'. Prewar non coated lens. Lens is in Ex+ or 8.5 of 10 cosmetic condition. Clean vintage glass. Includes lens cap and instruction manual. ************************************************************************************************ Made from 1934 to 1937, Night Exaktas were made with a larger thread to allow larger aperture lenses. This also means lenses can not be interchanged with other VP exaktas. Large apertures were especially important because films of the time were rather slow. Meyer Primoplan 80/1.9, Zeiss Biotar 8cm/2 and Dallmeyer 80/1,9 were available. Night Exaktas were made in two designs, based on the Exakta A (only high shutter speeds) and on Exakta B (slower speeds also available). Given the slow film material and the need for large lens apertures, one wonders how useful a Night Exakta with a slowest speed of 1/25s may have been in a night shot situation. ************************************************************************************************* Very classic pre war VP Night Exakta Model B camera with Primoplan f/1.9 lens in good condition A must have to complete your Exakta collection.
