Description: Incredible Hulk #465 Original Art Splash Page 1 SIGNED Peter David/Brewer/Pepoy Betty Banner and Colonel St. Lawrence are searching for Bruce Banner in Area 102 and find him playing poker with General Ross, Doc Samson, Mister Fantastic, and Tony Stark. Bruce explains that he, Reed, and Tony have shared memories of playing poker and that Thaddeus joined them to win back the money for every tank the Hulk ever destroyed. In the opening splash page, Betty and St. Lawrence are entering the smoke-filled room where the boys are enjoying the game and friendly banter. Peter David, the writer of the story also introduces in the story the President of the United States, Bill Clinton. He talks to his wife Hillary on the phone, and also makes references to his daughter Chelsey and Janet Reno, the Attorney General during the Clinton Administration. The artist of the issue is David Brewer. Dave Brewer did artwork on such titles as 'Dead King' and 'Vandala', both published by Chaos! Comics. At Marvel, he did fill-ins on 'Dr. Strange Sorcerer Supreme', 'Deadpool', 'Cable', and 'Incredible Hulk', as well as more regular work on '2099: World of Tomorrow'. The storyteller of the issue was Peter David. His notable comic book work includes an award-winning 12-year run on The Incredible Hulk, as well as runs on Aquaman, Young Justice, SpyBoy, Supergirl, Fallen Angel, Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2099, Captain Marvel and X-Factor. Up for sale is the original art for the opening page of that issue, where Betty and the Colonel are entering the room. It is a beautiful full page splash showing them opening the door and the cigar smoke drifting out. I was fortunate enough to meet both Peter David and David Brewer at a comic convention and both were kind enough to sign the original artwork with art by David Brewer and words by Peter David. Andrew Pepoy, the inker also signed the art on the back which you can see in the second picture “Inks; Andrew Pepoy.” The page itself looks to be in excellent condition, on heavy Marvel 11x17 art board. It has no tears, smudges or extraneous markings on the front. The words in the ballons were hand-painted on the artwork, but the creator box at the bottom left and the “Stan Lee Presents” are pasted on. There are typical smudges on the back which would expect when the art is used to make the comic. But look at the scans as I am not a professional dealer or grader.
