Description: Collecting meteorites has been a slippery slope and now I seem to have an excess of tektites (as well as meteorites) so I’m going to pass a few along. If you aren’t familiar with these curious objects, they are believed to originate from giant meteorite impacts. I can’t image the forces at work to create such pure glass. Interesting objects to ponder and study. I particularly like specimens that show a complicated formation story. This one has a lot going on. There is stretching, flow, numerous textures and I believe those x-shaped marking are from impact with other tektites in all the chaos. Yes, this specimen is chipped (glass doesn't play well with other things in the dirt) but a very interesting study specimen that does display very nicely. This item is from Thailand, part of the indochinite strewn field which stretches from Australia to China. I’ll combine shipping as best I can on multiple auctions so please check for other listings. Thanks for looking and I welcome questions.
