Typed Letter Signed: "Jimmy Stewart", 5½x3¼ postcard. Postmarked Los Angeles, California, 1941 March 21. To Jennie Perlowski, Milford, Conn. In full: "Thanks loads for your note on the Awards. I'm so glad you liked 'Philadelphia Story' and 'No Time for Comedy,' and hope you'll write again on Come Live With Me' and 'The Ziegfeld Girl.'" Three weeks earlier, on February 27, 1941, at the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles, James Stewart won the Academy Award for Best Actor for The Philadelphia Story. He sent the Oscar to his father in Indiana, Pennsylvania, who set it in his hardware shop. The trophy remained there for 25 years. Creased upper right corner. Lightly soiled.
