Description: James W. Tufts Grapes & Vines Serving Bowl Silver Plate 1836. This is a piece of history. It was manufactured somewhere between the late 1800's and early 1900's. JAMES W. TUFTS - Boston MA trademark registerd in 1875 as manufacturer of an extensive line of silverplated items. Consolidated in 1891 as a branch of American Soda Fountain Co, active in Congress Street, Boston accupying the probably largest and best equipped soda apparatus manufacturing plant in the world. Handle to handle the bowl measures approximately 8.5 inches across. The bowl is approximately 4 inches deep. Please review the pics closely for condition. The bottom is stamped "quadruple plate". The inside finish is rough. The bowl is slightly out of round but that does not affect the ability to display this item. Remember, it's old. I'm leaving the natural patina as there may be buyers that like it. If you don't care for the patina look, it can easily be cleaned and polished. I did clean one of the leafs and lightly cleaned a nearby cluster of grapes as you will see in the last picture. I package carefully and ship all packages with insurance. Thank you for looking!
