Description: Japanese Satsuma Koro Jacksons Antique are pleased to offer this Japanese early Meiji Period (1868-1912) Satsuma Koro. The Koro of typical form with barrel shaped circular body raised upon tripod foo-dog feet with raised arms and foo dog lid. The Koro extensively decorated with various lappets filled with geometric shapes and flowers. The Koro features four scenes two larger and two smaller to each side featuring samurai warriors and other figures amongst vast landscapes. The base of the Koro is signed with the Gosu blue Shimazu Mon above the signature 薩摩焼 Satsuma-yaki (Satsuma-wear) and dates to circa 1875. Condition Body is good, finial/lid has been restored/reglued and one handle has been reglued (all photographed) Please be aware all the items we sell are not new.
