In the front of the album is written: 'This album present to Mother by John Milne, Grocer of Mauchline. JBW.' Mauchline is a small town in Ayrshire, Scotland. JBW is likely James Williamson, a family member, because another note in the front of the album reads: 'Pencilled notes made by A.B. Williamson of Portsmouth from dictation by his Father and Mother (Mr & Mrs James Williamson of Ayr) Oct. 15th 1935.' Most of the photographs in the album had pencil notes beneath where they were placed, identifying the person and sometimes even their job.
