Description: This is a lithograph print from the original 1951 - 1952 vintage collection of "Great Ideas of Western Man", featuring John Dewey by Egbert Jacobson. From 1950 to the mid-1970s, the Container Corp. of America ran advertisements in a series called "Great Ideas of Western Man." Art Director Herbert Bayer commissioned major artists and designers to illustrate selected ideas of the greatest philosophers, writers, scientists, and cultural, religious, and political figures of history, from Aesop to Einstein. An excellent vintage snapshot of corporate America's embrace of the European Avant-Garde. Early in the campaign, a portfolio of the years' ads was issued, loose 14.25" x 11.5" plates; additionally CCA issued portfolios of 26 selected plates - each spanning three years of the campaign. This print is from the 1951 - 1952 collection. Please see photographs for condition. There is a slight crease in one corner, otherwise print is in good shape. Print will be shipped flat.
