Description: A wonderful "Gem" John Fery oil on artist board painting of a fox near a stream looking at a cabin in the distance. The painting measures 6 x 10 inches unframed, and 14 x 17 inches framed. The frame is period to the piece, but probably not original to the painting. John Fery is an important western artist with strong auction records, especially for "tight" well painted gems of landscapes with wildlife. The painting came from the collection of William S. Hart Jr, son of the famous silent movie actor William S Hart. I purchased the painting about 10 years ago from Hart's widow. The painting is said to have been in his father's collection, but I can't verify beyond the son owning it. I am including two photos, one of Willaim S. Hart posed next to a bronze of the actor with his two guns drawn. The photo is inscribed "To my boy Bill Hart from his dad" He was known as "two-gun Bill". Also included is a photo of William S. Hart Jr. as a young man. The photos are in excellent condition and measure about 8 x 10 inches. Shipping cost will include insurance, and will be well packed.
