The title of the book is taken from a poem by Tennyson, and it tells of the awakening and rise to power of forces from beneath the surface of the sea. The almost imperceptible beginnings and the cruelly terrifying consequences of this threat to the world are seen through the eyes of a radio script-writer and his wife in this apocalyptic science fiction classic in which the author demonstrates that an alien invasion of Earth could take a very different form from that in "The War of The Worlds." The book measures 7.1 inches x 4.5 inches and has 240 pages. The book is in good, neat condition for a softback of its age, and a little wear/light foxing to the covers. There are NO inscriptions/book-plates and NO other ink or pencil markings in the book. The binding is good with light creasing along the spine and no loose or missing pages.
