Description: American artist that was born under the influence of both Blues and Gospel, so Johnnie Taylor set his course straight down the middle and became top class R&B / Soul performer. He caught the eye of the great Sam Cooke in the early sixties, who helped and mentored him through the music industry. Signed to here presented Stax records in the early seventies, and after the demise of Otis Redding, and the break up of Sam & Dave, he soon became a leading standard bearer for the label. He never really made the same impact in the UK as others, despite the fact that much of his stuff was nailed down Northern Soul sound. This double LP titled, " Chronicle " or Greatest hits came out in 1977, and comes here as a German press with English cover notes, on original Stax record label. A few minor handling marks to the cover, but the vinyl is in mighty fine fettle. SUGGESTED track to check out, " It's September ". Please see photos for track listing. All my RECORDS are play tested before listing, always read the condition notes.
