Description: Joseph R. Dunkel [1896 1956] was one of the premier parachute jumpers and daredevil of the late 1920's and 1930's. Dunkel was also a pilot who flew a variety of aircraft which included gliders to four-engine bombers. Dunkel began jumping at an early age and set many records as a parachutist and daredevil and completed over 1300 jumps during his career. During the early 1930's he was the leader of a large team of jumpers who gave demonstrations of mass jumps at various air shows which included the Cleveland National Air Races. Listed for auction is a [TLS] typed letter signed by Joseph R. Dunkel. The letter is dated August 3, 1938, addressed to a collector and is signed ''J.J. Dunkel'' in black fountain pen above his typed name. The letter measures 11.00 x 8.50 inches, it has trivial toning otherwise it is in fine condition and will be accompanied with its original transmittal envelope.
