Beginning with Organized Noize's manic "I Call Shots" and Daz's "Loose Cannons," the album appears to take a cue from Ice Cube's seminal solo debut AMERIKKKA'S MOST WANTED, which utilized East Coast production (the Bomb Squad) as an original juxtaposition to the West Coast gangsta lyrics that flooded the speakers. As the album evolves, however, Kurupt's true West Coast colors--in his case, blue--begin to shine (see: "Who Ride Wit Us," "Neva Gonna Give It Up," and "Ya Can't Trust Nobody"). Lyrically, he continues to follow two paths: braggadocious word play with a gangsta slant, and brutal mysoginism. With the former, he succeeds; with the latter, he tends to grow tired and repetitious. Luckily, for Kurupt's sake, he's wisely chosen to scatter the musical and lyrical styles throughout, keeping listeners on their toes and interested for the duration.
