Description: This is a fully polished, gem quality and cabochon shaped piece of Burmite (Burmese) amber that contains a well-preserved, large beetle from the Cretaceous Period when dinosaurs still walked the Earth. The piece itself weighs 0.6 grams with approximate dimensions of 1.5 cm length by 1.2 cm width and 0.3 cm height. NOTE: 2.54 cm is 1 inch. Please see my feedback. I have been selling amber fossils for over 15 years on eBay and do not sell fake amber only genuine material from now extinct plant sources not glass or plastic embedded with present day inclusions.Burmese (Burmite) amber is difficult to acquire and has been dated to be Cretaceous in age (around 100 million years old) and would have been sticky resin during the time of the dinosaurs and is being mined in the Hukawng Valley in Myanmar (Burma). However, many amber sources or even specimens will not float in saltwater as their botanical (plant) composition as well as fossil inclusions are such that they are more dense than saltwater and so sink.
