Description: Large vintage classic "Pinkie" Sarah Barrett Moulton needlepoint & petit point framed piece based on the portrait by Sir Thomas Lawrence. Beautifully crafted, I believe it is wool. Her face, neck and arms are done in petit point. I don't know the age, but based on the frame and the method of stretching/mounting I would say 60s or earlier. The colors are still vivid. Please note that the photos really don't do the piece justice and show some excessive shadowing in the face. This is misleading and I believe caused by the texture variation between the petit point and the needlepoint. Image size is approx 15 1/2" x 19 1/2", framed size is approx 22 1/2 x 26 1/2. No glass. The piece is in very good condition, but may need to be restretched at some point in the future. The are a few spots that don't lay perfectly flat, especially in the petit point areas. The frame is solid, but has a couple of fairly large pieces of gilded trim missing. See photos 4 & 5. The largest is approx 1 x 2 1/2". If you prefer to purchase the piece without the frame, that is possible. It will significantly reduce the shipping cost. Please contact me for an estimate.
