This is the “Lay De 14 De Agosto De 1935” ten pesos issued by “El Departamento De Emision Del Banco De La Republica Oriental Del Uruguay.” The note is deep blue in color over a multicolored underprint and has the image of a warrior wearing a helmet to the left of the front and the Uruguay arms in the upper right corners on the front. The back is purple and shows a group of men holding swords with a flag raised. The note has two signatures in black and the serial number in red shown twice on the front. This particular note has the serial number 1153793 and it is series A. The note has a watermark depicting J. G. Artigas in profile. The note also shows small colorful fibers within the paper, which are evident in the margin in the center of the front. Please carefully review the scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description. Date: The note is dated 14 August 1935. Printer: Thomas De La Rue & Co. Ltd in England. Size: Measures ~6 7/8" by ~3 1/2". Pick Number: P30a. Condition: I would grade this banknote as a nice crisp very fine with all the details being very well preserved and the note retaining quite a bit of its original stiffness, sheen, and crispiness. The note has vertical folds, but no evident horizontal folds. The note also has a few short creases and some minor wrinkling throughout. Its corners are intact with minimum rounding and a couple of bumps. The note is lightly soiled with a few minor stains, which can be seen in the photos but none of them is truly objectionable. It also has no pinholes, no graffiti, no splits, and no tears. The edges are intact with minimum roughness. A beautiful note to add to your collection.
