Description: This is a vintage antique sample of barbed wire fencing. This sample features an Edwin S. Lenox patent, dated June 24, 1884. This wire is called "Lenox's Small Gauge Single Line Dot Wire with Two Point Barb, by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 66-B). This wire features a single eleven gauge high tensile line wire. Line wire is rolled to leave raised dots or knots on both sides of line at barbing intervals. Barbs are two pointed made by wrapping a round wire twice around line wire. Raised dots were supposed to eliminate barb slippage. Wire sample shows light pitting. There are five barbs. Barbs are fairly well spaced, and cut is well centered. There is some slippage of point. There are no broken, or missing barbing points. We have listed other antique barbed wire samples, and will gladly combine multiple purchases for shipping, when paid on the same invoice. Please use the "Add to Cart" option next to the buy it now button. I will refund any excessive shipping charges. Twelve wire samples paid on the same invoice will ship with all shipping charges refunded. .
