When sunshine is available it makes a great primary or back-up fire starter so you can conserve your other more limited resources like lighters, matches, and ferro rods. Within seconds of concentrating the suns rays through the glass, and ember will ignite on a small section of char cloth (included) that can be used to then light your larger tinder nest.
