Stain to the title page which communicates to a few pages before and after, stain at margin/gutter from old insertion, paper in general a bit browned, obviously read, some corners turned down. The Life and Testament of Nostradamus, with the explanation of several very curious prophecies, was apparently written by Jean Aime de Chavigny, who is named in the beginning of the book Chavigny (1424? -1604) was a French astrologer and alchemist who considered himself not only a disciple of Nostradamus but his successor as prophet and astrologer. , Nostradamus is said 12391to have told de Chavigny one evening "you will not find me alive at sunrise." The next morning, Chavigny found Nostradamus lying dead on the floor next to his bed. The book is supposed to have been taken from a manuscript written by Chavigny, under the name "Janus Gallicus." In addition to the important Life of Nostradamus, the book contains at the end, starting at page 168, "Letter from the Jews of Arles to the Jews of Constantinople" translated from the Spanish into French. A good copy of this rather scarce biography of the fascinating Nostradamus, written by one of his closest associates and disciples.
