They prefer a well-maintained tank with a temperature between 72-78°F (22-26°C), a pH of 6.5-7.5, and a good filtration system due to their high waste production. When acclimating parrot cichlids, float the sealed bag in the tank for 15-20 minutes to equalize the water temperature. Then, gradually mix small amounts of tank water into the bag over another 15-20 minutes to help the fish adjust to the new water conditions.
