Description: SEE LONDON BY BUS! they said, it will be FUN they said.... All it did was rain, and rain some more. Fortunately it was in a double-decker bus with a roof on the top level, like this 1:64 scale red Lone Star Routemaster London Bus #1259. The driver however was a wee chain-smoking Irishman who took corners like Parnelli Jones and had the top of the bus leaning quite far out. How it didn't end up on its side I'll never know. I though it was hilarious and enjoyed the ride holding onto the seat in front of me, but many people were hanging out the top windows and projectile vomiting on pedestrians below with reckless abandon. London is a wonderful place, but they don't sell sunglasses there. When I found this old diecast bus neglected in a garage in Jersey, it reminded me of the whole thing and I decided to clean it up as a tribute. You won't find too many of these Lone Star diecasts in North America. I imagine these were produced circa late 1970s or 1980 based on research. This particular model is in presentable condition, but has a bit of paint wear and chips as well as faded decals. It was obviously played with roughly, just the way your mother likes it and has about the same amount of London miles on it as her beaver. The body is a two-piece fastened metal clamshell with plastic wheels and tyres.Although this particular diecast may not be perfect for display, it might make a good base for a custom build or a re-paint.
