Description: Los Angeles, CALIFORNIA - Hotel Savoy - ARCHITECTURE: Owner Frank Simpson, Sr., commissioned the Los Angeles architecture firm of Morgan, Walls and Clements to design this 11-story, Beaux-Arts, Italian Renaissance palazzo. The firm was awarded a citation from the American Institute of Architects (AIA), Southern California Chapter, for its design of this Hotel, construction of which was completed in 1917. In 1957, the Savoy Hotel renovated its lobby entrance and its 10 floors of guest rooms. Retail storefronts were remodeled to suit Continental Airlines, Incorporated, Scandinavian Airlines System, Incorporated, and Hertz Rent a Car offices. The hotel was demolished in 1965. This Linen Era (1930-45) advertising postcard promotes the hotel on its reverse: "Hotel Savoy - Los Angeles, California - Nearest to Everything Downtown. Rates from $2.50 - No extra charge for two persons occupying the same room. All outside rooms, each with private bath. Savoy Autopark and fireproof Savoy Garage adjoins hotel, both with 24 hour "in-and-out" privileges." This postcard is in good condition. EC Kroff Co., Milwaukee, Wis. No. 13231.
