Description: Now available is a large collection of our long-acquired vintage/antique archive of attractive and interesting hardcover books, which I likely will be adding to as this auction progresses. Representative samples of the books available are shown the picture gallery above. Please not that these are representative selections that are available at the start of the auction, and you may or may not receive any or all of these actual titles shown (though it's likely you will), and/or might receive others as well, but all sent will be similar in nature to those shown. These are all original vintage books with printing dates ranging from the Civil War era to the Kennedy era. The newest of these books was published 60 years ago (1963), but most are much older. I would estimate that roughly 1/3 of the books date from the the 1920s through the 1940s, about 25% date from the second half of the 19th Century up to 1920, and the remaining 30-40% from the post WWII/Cold War era (1950-1963). All of these are hardcover books (mostly the hard clothbound type cover common in the modern era, though a few of the very old books might have vintage genuine leather or silk bindings). Most do not have dust jackets (though a small percentage of the books still do, but of course any dustjackets this old tend to be in generally fragile or poor condition). The topics/titles are varied. The types of books include literature (including some noted or celebrated authors/titles) popular fiction of the various eras, poetry, politics/society, literary anthologies, history, music and entertainment, economic issues and business, the arts, science/technical/medical, youth titles, handyman/home improvement, "current" events, and others. These are all fairly unique books and do not include any boring "trash" books such as old encyclopedias, Reader's Digest condensed books, or any very common books such as old bibles or standard dictionaries. The titles provided will be a good mix of eras, topics, colors, etc. (though if you have preferences along those lines let me know and we can try to accommodate those as much as feasible). Every book you receive will be different from the others you receive--there will be absolutely no duplicates! Of course, these are very nice for decorative use, to fill in bookshelves/bookcases/libraries for home decor, staging, or even Zoom background use. Not only are they very attractive, though, many of these are also very interesting to read, either as pieces of literature, historic artifacts, or both. (Bear in mind, of course, that many of these date from less enlightened eras and might contain observations or attitudes, especially including political statements, racial attitudes, and views on gender/national origin/religion roles or stereotypes that, thankfully, will seem quite objectionable or outdated to modern readers, but these do provide very interesting historical documentation on how such views have evolved.) If you pull one of these off the shelf at random and turn to a random page and begin to read, you will likely find much of interest, especially from a historical perspective. These are heavy items, so of course they cost some money to ship. As printed material, though, these can ship by cost-effective (though not particular fast) USPS Media Mail. I will pay the shipping cost by Media Mail, so shipping will be free for you if shipped that way. If you need it sooner I can ship by USPS Priority Mail, but you would have to pay that extra shipping cost. I hope you will enjoy these for years, and I have for many of these. Thanks for looking, and happy bidding!
