Description: Here is a lot of four original US theatrical release lobby cards for the American International release of Hammer's atypical adaptation of the oft-filmed Robert Louis Stevenson fable, here titled House of Fright (1960). Offering a suave and youthful Paul Massie in his transformation to Hyde as a contrast to his stiff and "aged" Dr Jekyll, the film toys openly with the story's moral conundrums but ultimately succumbs to the requisite exploitation elements and a distinct lack of horror. Still, it not at all a bad film, although Massie's stiff portrayal as the bookish Dr Jekyll is a bit too theatrical and his makeup a bit too reminiscent of Monty Python. Typically accomplished Reynold Brown poster art in the inset was defaced when American International attempted to up the box office appeal by covering the title Jekyll's Inferno with a snipe that screamed "House of Fright". Needless to say, this generic retitling did nothing to boost the film's appeal domestically.
